Today we have walls!

The builders have been working hard today and have installed most of the two walls with the panel vent board and waterproof membrane. It's beginning to feel like a room now.

Insulation arrives en masse

Isover wall invasion in the yellow packaging. The dry store is now crammed with insulation and the garage is storing the rest.

Adding the internal wall

This is the wall that separates the kitchen from the utility room and also supports one end of the glulam ridge beam.

View from the new kitchen window

.........or at least from the hole that will be the kitchen window.

Walls & Gable Day in the sun

Dry day today gave us the chance to make some real progress getting the walls up. Gable end still needs some work but the other walls are going in fairly easily.

Frame erection begins in the pouring rain.

Sole plates are down, secured with thunderbolts and then we start erecting the vertical studs.

If it wasn't for the rain and the elusive 15mm socket we would have completed the whole wall today.

Should have all walls completed tomorrow with any luck.

Timber of the truck

Ridge Beam Maneuver

Jamie skillfully unloads the 10.9m ridge beam of the truck, across the road (which we closed!), passed the telegraph pole and into the driveway.

The timber frame kit arrives!

Fresh from Cornwall, the timber kit has arrived. With great skill and help from Jamie,Adam and Del from next door, we managed to close the A429 and upset the neighbours. Still, job done and our driveway is now a timber yard.

Short break in proceedings allowed us to go to Legoland with the kids today.

Tomorrow sees the scaffolding arrive ahead of the frame delivery on Monday.
